Position Overview

We are seeking an exceptional SVP, Brand Strategy to serve as the strategic engine behind BGB’s new business efforts, growth initiatives, and high-impact brand engagements. This senior leader will guide pitch strategy, shape overarching narratives, and bring sharp insight and clarity to every new opportunity.

The ideal candidate will combine deep healthcare expertise with strong strategic instincts, the ability to simplify complexity, and a talent for crafting compelling strategic stories that differentiate BGB. This role is dedicated to driving the strategic foundation of pitch work, partnering with creative leadership, and shaping high-level thinking that inspires clients and powers agency growth.

The SVP, Brand Strategy will also act as a senior client-facing leader—representing the Brand Strategy discipline during pitches, workshops, and strategic planning meetings while modeling best-in-class strategic leadership across the agency.

Specific Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership for New Business

  • Lead strategic development for pitches and new business opportunities, crafting clear, compelling narratives that bring the brand, category, and science to life.
  • Translate marketplace, audience, and cultural insights into differentiated strategic platforms that set BGB apart.

Insight & Narrative Development

  • Synthesize complex science, competitive landscapes, and stakeholder behavior into simple, powerful strategic frameworks.
  • Shape the pitch narrative and strategic story arc, partnering seamlessly with Creative Directors, Business Development, and Account leaders.

Client-Facing Strategic Excellence

  • Serve as a primary strategic voice in new business presentations, workshops, and early-stage client meetings.
  • Confidently articulate insights, strategic rationale, and recommendations to senior clients and cross-functional stakeholders.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Partner closely with copy, art, strategy, and account leadership to ensure pitch work is aligned, integrated, and strategically sound.
  • Work hand-in-hand with business development to evaluate opportunities, scope needs, and strengthen strategic capabilities in pursuit of growth.

Thought Leadership & Industry Expertise

  • Apply deep knowledge of therapeutic categories, healthcare challenges, and emerging market dynamics to guide BGB’s new business strategy.
  • Act as an internal expert in brand positioning, customer behavior, and communications planning.

Leadership & Team Development

  • Mentor and elevate strategists across the agency, fostering a culture of curiosity, clarity, and strategic excellence.
  • Model strong strategic thinking and coach teams through ambiguity, complexity, and high-pressure pitch timelines.

Process Leadership & Strategic Discipline

  • Navigate teams through core strategic processes—from insight development to brand architecture to communications planning—within accelerated pitch timelines.
  • Ensure strategic rigor while fueling creativity and storytelling.

Strengthening BGB’s Strategic Brand

  • Champion BGB’s commitment to science creativity—ensuring all recommendations reflect scientific depth and creative ambition.
  • Support expansion of existing client relationships through proactive strategic partnership.

Experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • 8 years of strategic brand planning experience within healthcare, pharmaceutical advertising, or a closely related agency environment.
  • Experience developing strategy for new business pitches strongly preferred.

Salary Range: $200,000 - $250,000 base salary bonus eligibility

The salary range provided represents what a potential hire may expect to earn in this role at BGB. Actual salary decisions will be influenced by several factors that we use to determine overall fit, including experience (both direct and indirect), education, training, demonstrated qualifications, and organizational need. Salary is only one component of the total rewards package offered at BGB Group.
