Staff Accountant

BFS Companies is comprised of 65 convenience store locations, 15 bulk fuel plants, 4 Southern States stores and 80 branded fast food locations. We’re looking for an organized and driven Staff Accountant to join our growing team. The Staff Accountant position will work closely with our other accountants and operations personnel. This position is responsible for understanding the urgency of getting the job done accurately and timely. The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of the accounting cycle in a professional environment. In addition, an understanding of accounting principles, as well as strong computer and communication skills. We’re an energetic company and are looking for a passionate individual to join our organization.

Main Job Tasks And Responsibilities

• Perform monthly, quarterly and annual close process
• Perform reconciliations of bank and credit card accounts
• Fulfil annual audit requests
• Reconcile financial discrepancies by collecting and analyzing account information
• Prepare asset, liability, and capital account entries by compiling and analyzing account information.
• Summarizes current financial status by collecting information; preparing balance sheet, profit and loss statement, and other reports in a timely manner
• Guides accounting clerical staff by coordinating activities and answering questions

Education And Experience

• 2-5 years accounting experience
• Extensive knowledge of US GAAP
• Advanced computer skills in MS Office, accounting software and databases
• Knowledge of accounting and corporate finance principles and procedures
• Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
• CPA or CPA candidate a plus
• Public accounting experience is a plus
