What are the responsibilities and job description for the Financial Systems Technician position at BFS - CUSTOMER SUPPORT DIVISION?
Located at Bureau of the Fiscal Service, Financial Management Help Desk and Tiered Support Branch. As a Financial Systems Technician, you will be responsible for supporting the Branch through a variety of work with accounting and/or procurement systems, policies, and procedures. The work includes customer service, troubleshooting, system administration, and maintenance.
Qualifications:
You must meet the following requirements by the closing date of this announcement.The experience may have been gained in either the public, private sector or volunteer service. One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-time work is considered on a prorated basis. Specialized Experience for the GS-07, you must have one year (full 52 weeks) of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-06 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position is defined as:
- Experience providing customer service and technical assistance to internal and external customers; AND
- Experience conveying technical information to customers and/or team members AND
- Research and identify issues in an automated system.
Specialized Experience for the GS-06, you must have one year (full 52 weeks) of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-05 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position is defined as:
- Experience providing general customer service via telephone and email in a help desk environment; AND
- Experience applying policies and procedures to support customer needs.
Specialized Experience for the GS-05, you must have one year (full 52 weeks) of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-04 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position is defined as:
- Providing general customer service via telephone or other electronic means; OR
- Use of an automated system; OR
- Gather pertinent data, identify problems and recognize solutions.
OR
- You may substitute education for specialized experience as follows: 4 years above high school
OR
-You may qualify on a combination of education and experience. To combine education and experience, the total percentage of experience at the required grade level compared to the requirement, as well as the percentage of completed education compared to the requirement must equal at least 100.
Responsibilities:
The following are the duties of this position at the GS-07. If you are selected at a lower grade level, you will have the opportunity to learn to perform all these duties and will receive training to help you grow in this position.
- Assist with navigating users through various financial systems.
- Provide daily customer service in a help desk environment on accounting and procurement system related requests as well as technical questions as they relate to the systems.
- Identify and refer complex problems or questions requiring detailed analysis or extensive system modification to the responsible financial system analyst or higher-level employee.
- Provide technical assistance and advice to management, support staff, and customers on using an automated financial system.
