POSITION SUMMARY

Responsible for the filling and dispensing of medication orders, including the proper handling, usage and storage of drugs in the Pharmacy. Maintains standards set forth by the department and translates policies and procedures into daily operations. Responsible for acting as an information resource to patients, physicians, nurses and other healthcare professionals regarding medication therapy and drug-related information and literature. Provides a coordination effort, in conjunction with the medical staff and nursing, in the delivery of quality and cost-effective drug therapies to patients. Demonstrates a competency to provide pharmaceutical care to patients of all relevant age groups.

This position is PART Time M-F, 4 hours per day.

Supervises the following positions: Provides supervision and leadership to the Pharmacy Technicians.

  • Maintain excellent working relationships with co-workers, health care professionals and other health related facilities and organizations as appropriate.

  • Appropriately accesses the resources of the companys corporate offices for consultation and support. Routinely shares professional knowledge with staff, managers and hospital personnel.
  • Attends and participates in facility meetings.
  • Knowledge of emergency and disaster procedures of the facility.
  • Participates in hospital-wide safety program identifying risks to patient safety and reducing healthcare errors.
  • Participates in relevant in-service training sessions.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Infection Control Applies hand-washing principles during daily work; demonstrates. understanding of isolation precautions; demonstrates understanding of the process for identifying and handling infectious waste; maintains personal hygiene; recognizes signs and symptoms of infection and complies with the employee health program; complies with OSHA standards in the workplace; and demonstrates understanding of cross- contamination. Complies with applicable health screenings.

 

Information Management Enters or records data timely and accurately; protects confidentiality of patient information; protects data against loss or destruction; reports suspected violation of security/confidentiality issues timely.

 

 

INTERPERSONAL SKILLS

Demonstrates active listening techniques; gains support through effective relationships; treats others with dignity and respect; seeks feedback; participates in processes to measure effectiveness, efficiency, and service; and maintains reporting mechanisms.

CONTINUING EDUCATION

Attends in-service and education programs; attends and completes continuing education required for maintenance of applicable license and/or certification.
