Location: Midland, TX, The Woodlands, TX, or Leetsdale, PA
Amount of Travel Required: >75%
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. (overtime as needed)

POSITION SUMMARY:
The Field Controls & Automation Engineer will be responsible for partnering with internal and external stakeholders to familiarize themselves with Evolution’s hardware, software, and network strategy; administer controls environment (hardware, software, networks); maintaining and executing automation solutions that enhance the control systems capabilities. They will be responsible for assisting operations and maintenance in sustaining equipment availability through the controls & automation platform. They will ensure that any malfunction relating to the controls & automation system are thoroughly investigated for a root cause, the remediating solution is implemented, and documentation is accurately created or modified and appropriately stored for future reference. They will actively be assisting during any event involving equipment lack of availability and will participate in any communication or meetings surrounding the shutdown. They will ensure resolution or subsequent projects are completed in a timely manner and will verify quick response in order to restore the field operations and ensure maximum operational capability is maintained at all times.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: (The following duties and responsibilities are all essential job functions, as defined by the ADA, except for those that begin with the word "may.")
- Troubleshoots and performs necessary electrical, controls or communication system repairs to malfunctioning equipment during rig up processes and/or during normal operations.
- Understands equipment electrical controls and can actively work to troubleshoot issues with PLC’s, controllers, networks, VFD’s and power systems, controls & automation software, and all other related elements.
- Maintains high level of knowledge on controls systems, hardware, and programming/software standards and market trends to keep company environment current.
- Program software to PLCs, HMIs, VFDS, routers, switches, instrumentation, and other related programmable equipment.
- Provide training for operations on new processes and technology related to controls & automation objectives.
- Responsible for executing projects involving the controls platform and all related hardware, software, and networks
- Works as a team with the fleet technicians, electrical supervisors, digital technology team to manage efficiencies when starting up equipment on new pads before well open.
- High proficiency in the maintenance of control systems for pumps, blenders, gas conditioning and power generation equipment.
- Actively serves as central point of contact for third-party automation integrators.
- Will be required to engage with various technology vendors and partners.
- Will be required to travel for discussions with stakeholders, direct operational support and/or technology R&D or deployments
- First point of contact for operations support for technical support of controls platform to ensure continuity of operations
- Provide on call support as needed 24/7 to support operations with controls & automation related issues.
- Performs daily safe operations according to company policies.
- Participates in company safety initiatives including daily programs (written documentation, observations, etc.) and adheres to policies and procedures to ensure the wellbeing of all employees and drive operational excellence.
- Complies with all government, industry and EVO regulations and standards to ensure a healthy and safe work environment for all employees.
- Additional functions and requirements may be assigned by supervisors as deemed appropriate.
- Performs other related duties as assigned to assist with successful operations and business continuity.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for sponsorship.
- Must be at least 18 years of age or older.
- 1-5 years of automation, controls, and electrical equipment experience required.
- Successfully passes all applicable general pre-employment testing including but not limited to: background check, pre-employment drug screening, pre-employment fit tests, pre-employment aptitude and/or competency assessment(s).
- Valid U.S. Driver’s License required. Most employment is contingent upon meeting company driving standards, including 3 year U.S. driving history and an acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) in accordance with Company policy.
- Daily overtime required and in person, predictable attendance.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE LEVEL
- Degree from accredited institution in engineering technology or engineering field preferred. An equivalent combination of education, specialized training, and relevant professional experience may be considered in lieu of a formal degree.
- 5 years previous electronics experience required OR Degree in Electrical, Controls or Automation Technology or related field preferred.
- Previous oilfield experience preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to prove high aptitude in technical skillsets and competencies as listed below.
QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS, COMPETENCIES AND ABILITIES
- Possesses fundamental knowledge of fracturing equipment.
- Highly proficient in usage of multimeter testing device.
- In depth proficiency in the communication of pumps, blenders, and power generation equipment.
- Strong electrical, mechanical and mathematical aptitude.
- Experience successfully executing controls and automation projects with ability to effectively manage a variety of projects simultaneously.
- Strong working knowledge of control systems, SEIMENS hardware and software systems and environments, programming languages, protocols, and networking.
- Excellent ability to read, interpret, understand, and write SCL PLC programming language.
- Knowledge of equipment controls logic required.
- Able to read electrical/controls/network drawings required.
- Specific knowledge of Hydraulic Fracturing activities preferred.
- Ability to read and interpret P&IDs, PFDs and any other project design documents.
- Specific Knowledge of Siemens S7 platform preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft platforms.
- Ability to receive instruction well and interact in a positive manner within assigned work groups.
- Possess strong interpersonal skills.
- Possess the ability to plan and execute controls & automation projects on worksite.
- Ability to successfully work within a team environment to complete assigned tasks.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT

Daily required to walk, sit, climb, bend, reach and squat/kneel. When required to go to a wellsite, employees will rideshare with multiple employees. Work environment includes exposure to hazardous materials, operating conditions, audio up to 85 dB and inclement weather. Given these conditions employees are required to wear company mandated and issued personal protective equipment (PPE) (fire retardant coveralls, arc flash suits, safety hat, steel toe boots, safety glasses, ear protection, high voltage gloves, and impact gloves) and must strictly adhere to all safety policies. Employees are regularly required to lift heavy objects; therefore, employees must be able to lift 49 lbs. independently and 50 100 lbs. with a team lift.
Work hours may include early morning, late evenings, and weekends, depending on job demands.
