Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 5:30 a.m. – 4 p.m.

POSITION SUMMARY:
The Shipping Assistant is responsible for supporting daily shipping operations by verifying shipping documentation, preparing and packaging materials for shipment, and ensuring the safe and efficient movement of parts throughout the facility. This role works closely with supervisors and team members while developing knowledge of shipping processes and procedures.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: (The following duties and responsibilities are all essential job functions, as defined by the ADA, except for those that begin with the word "may")
- Checks bills of lading for accuracy, including serial numbers, job order numbers, addresses, and weights.
- Moves parts and materials throughout the shop to appropriate locations.
- Operates forklifts, hoists, cherry pickers, and other lifting equipment as required.
- Builds crates and boxes for domestic and overseas shipments.
- Prepares parts for shipment using dipping, wrapping, and spraying for rust prevention.
- Loads trucks and secures loads properly for transport.
- Maintains consistent quality and productivity standards in packaging and shipping tasks.
- Receives and verifies parts from outside vendors, ensuring proper documentation.
- Moves parts into inventory and ensures proper stock placement.
- Monitors equipment usage and ensures forklifts and trucks receive routine maintenance.
- Demonstrates ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Performs other related duties as assigned to assist with successful operations and business continuity.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
- Successfully passes all applicable general pre employment testing including but not limited to: background check, pre employment drug screening, pre employment fit tests, pre employment aptitude and/or competency assessment(s).
- Proficiency in spoken English language.
- Valid U.S. Driver’s License required. Employment is contingent upon meeting company driving standards, including an acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) in accordance with Company policy.
- Requires regular, predictable, and in person attendance in a manufacturing environment.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE LEVEL
- U.S. High school diploma or GED required.
- 3 or more years of relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and experience, preferably in a manufacturing or shipping environment.
- Lean Manufacturing experience preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite Tools (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, PowerPoint), with emphasis on Excel.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT

Daily required to walk, sit, climb, bend, reach and squat/kneel. The employee may sit for prolonged periods at a desk while typing on a computer, whether in a corporate office or jobsite such as the manufacturing facility. Work environment includes exposure to hazardous materials, operating conditions, audio up to 85 dB and inclement weather, including typical and atypical outdoor elements and extreme cold and hot weather temperatures. Given these conditions, employees are required to wear company mandated and issued personal protective equipment (PPE) and must strictly adhere to all safety policies. Individuals are regularly required to lift heavy objects; therefore, they must be able to lift 49 lbs. independently and 50 100 lbs. with a team lift.
Work hours may include early morning, late evenings, and weekends, depending on job demands.
