POSITION SUMMARY:
HSE Compliance Specialist is responsible for recommending and supporting company health safety and environmental programs (HSE) that support reduction of accident/incident frequency and reduce additional liabilities while embracing the company's PRISM culture.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Evaluate hazards on location for health, safety and environmental risks. Conduct and document audits of locations.
- Provide operational support by assignment and implementation of corrective actions in a timely manner.
- Assist in identifying and developing HSE procedures and compliance programs to reduce and eliminate risks.
- Audit contingency plans, including fire prevention procedures, mitigate spills in accordance with local and government regulation, and emergency action plans.
- Maintain safety data sheets (SDS) so they are always accessible according to regulations.
- Assist in maintaining periodic audits of location.
- Assist in creating and maintaining HSE alerts for emergency preparedness, confined spaces, electrical safety, machine guarding, fall protection, and forklift safety, etc.
- Assist in maintaining EPA records of hazardous waste, air emission permitting, and water pollution discharge, as well as industrial health monitoring and records of employee hazard exposure according to OSHA regulations.
- Maintain current knowledge of local, state and federal regulations through professional literature and attending local / regional seminars to stay current with governmental compliance requirements.
- Assist in Incident investigation to identify Root Causes through company (RCA) root cause analysis programs.
- Utilize internal (KPA) system to track and trend leading and lagging indicators.
- Maintain fit for duty status, with the ability to walk, sit and stand for long periods of time when necessary.
- Assist with compliance with company’s drug and alcohol program and random screening process.
- Safety awareness and always promote safe work habits.
- Perform other duties as assigned to assist with successful operations and business continuity.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for sponsorship.
- Must be at least 18 years of age or older
- Successfully passes all applicable general pre-employment testing including but not limited to: background check, pre-employment drug screening, pre-employment fit tests, pre-employment aptitude and/or competency assessment(s).
- Valid U.S. Driver’s License required. Most employment is contingent upon meeting company driving standards, including 3 year U.S. driving history and an acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) in accordance with Company policy.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE LEVEL
- Associate degree in occupational safety and health, environmental science, or a related subject. An equivalent combination of education, specialized training, and relevant professional experience will be considered in lieu of a formal degree.
- One to three years of experience as an HSE Compliance Specialist
- Basic computer skills with both word processing and database applications.
- Ability to drive and inspect both outdoor and indoor areas to observe compliance with established programs.
- Oil and gas experience or knowledge.
- Root cause analysis training (TapRoot, Five Whys, Fault Tree Analysis, etc.)
- Accident investigation training.

QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS, COMPETENCIES, AND ABILITIES
- Ability to attend, participate, and successfully complete the scheduled New Hire Safety training, including but not limited to H2S, Powered Industrial, and basic First Aid and CPR training.
- Attends and successfully completes annual safety and operations recertification training.
- Advanced verbal and written communication skills and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to learn in a fast-paced environment, adapt to change and receptive to new instructions.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT

Work environment includes exposure to hazardous materials, operating conditions, audio up to 85 dB and inclement weather. Given these conditions employees are required to wear company mandated and issued personal protective equipment (PPE) (fire retardant coveralls, safety hat, steel-toe boots, safety glasses, ear protection and impact gloves) and must strictly adhere to all safety policies. May be required to lift heavy objects; therefore, must be able to lift <50 lbs. independently and 50-100 lbs. with a team lift.

Work hours may include early morning, late evenings, and weekends, depending on job demands.
