What are the responsibilities and job description for the Clinical Director - Behavioral Health (Colorado) position at Betwell Health?
Clinical Director - Behavioral Health (Colorado)
About us
BetWell Health is a new behavioral health provider bringing warm, evidence-based care to Colorado -offering Partial Hospitalization (PHP), Intensive Outpatient (IOP), and Outpatient (OP) treatment, in person and virtually, across the full range of substance use disorders and mental health conditions, with a distinct specialty in gambling disorder and online addictions.
The role
We're looking for a founding Clinical Director to build and lead our Colorado clinical program from the ground up - across both our in-person care center and our virtual, statewide programs. You'll design our PHP, IOP, and OP programming, set our clinical and medical-necessity standards, hire and supervise our clinical team, and ensure every client is matched - honestly and defensibly - to the right level of care, whether they're treated on-site or virtually.
What you'll own
- Design and launch PHP, IOP, and OP programming — delivered both in person and through our virtual, statewide platform (mental health, substance use, and co-occurring gambling disorder and online addictions)
- Build a unified clinical model and consistent standard of care across both our in-person and virtual channels
- Set assessment and level-of-care standards using ASAM and LOCUS criteria (aligned to Colorado's ASAM 4th Edition transition)
- Hire, supervise, and develop clinicians and group facilitators across both in-person and virtual teams
- Own clinical documentation quality and medical-necessity standards — the foundation of both care and reimbursement
- Own engagement and retention across the virtual program — group utilization, attendance, and completion
- Lead accreditation readiness (CARF or Joint Commission) and Colorado BHA compliance
- Build the intake-to-treatment clinical pathway for both in-person and virtual patients
- Serve as the clinical authority of record for the program
You bring
- Independent Colorado clinical license (LCSW, LPC, LMFT, or licensed psychologist) — required
- Certified Clinical Supervisor status (or eligibility) strongly preferred
- 5 years in behavioral health, with hands-on experience building or leading PHP/IOP programs
- Substance use and co-occurring expertise; familiarity with ASAM/LOCUS medical-necessity criteria
- Experience with or a strong understanding of virtual/telehealth behavioral health delivery
- Training in evidence-based practices (CBT, DBT, Motivational Interviewing, etc.)
- Leadership experience guiding multidisciplinary teams and developing individualized care plans
- A builder's mindset — you want to shape a program, not inherit one
- Bonus: gambling-disorder training or certification (ICGC), or interest in developing that specialty with our national clinical lead
