Position Summary
We are seeking a highly motivated Case Manager to support the Betty’s Project mission. This role involves direct client interaction, eligibility assessments, coordination with service providers, and administrative support. The ideal candidate will be adaptable, empathetic, and capable of managing multiple responsibilities with sound judgment. Patience is a needed skill as we work with numerous different governmental and private entities that require many hoops, waiting, and follow up. This position will be mostly from our Coralville Office but will require a work from home set up as well.
Key Responsibilities
- Focus on intake of new cases throughout the state by visiting clients in hospitals and nursing homes, visiting clients' homes of record, contacting banks, getting applied for Medicaid, etc.
- Review client applications and documentation to assess eligibility for services
- Communicate with HHS, banks, service providers, and other case managers regarding application status and required documentation
- Maintain accurate and confidential records of eligibility determinations and client interactions
- Log time spent on each client and the tasks completed in company tracking system
- Provide guidance to clients on eligibility status and next steps
- Stay informed on changes in healthcare regulations and public benefit programs
- Assist in resolving discrepancies related to client eligibility or financial documentation
- Support guardian case manager team with client visits and other assigned duties
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a human services-related field or equivalent or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Must pass the National Certified Guardian exam within one year of hire (training and exam costs covered by organization)
- Strong interpersonal skills and emotional intelligence
- Ability to work with minimal supervision but humble enough to ask questions when needed
- Must be able to work independently and collaboratively
- Ability to manage multiple projects and adapt to evolving situations
Previous experience in one or more of the following roles is a bonus:
- MCO case manager
- Group home finance manager
- Bookkeeper
- Nursing home business office staff
- Familiarity with public benefit programs, healthcare systems, and basic consumer finance
- Familiarity with legal case management software (Clio)
Alternatively, candidates with legal or financial backgrounds and some healthcare knowledge are encouraged to apply
Compensation & Benefits
- Competitive hourly rate based on experience $18.00 - $20.00
- Semi-flexible scheduling within standard business hours (8 AM – 5 PM, Monday-Friday)
