Betty Rae's Ice Cream/Lawrence, a premium scatch-made scoop shop, is seeking a detail-oriented individual to join our production team.
This position is responsible for preparing, churning, and finishing ice cream in small batches, ensuring all quality and food safety standards are met. The ideal candidate enjoys hands-on production work, thrives in a fast-paced kitchen environment, and takes pride in crafting exceptional food products.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare ice cream bases, inclusions, and mix-ins according to established recipes
- Operate commercial batch freezers, mixers, ovens, and other production equipment
- Maintain strict adherence to food safety and sanitation standards
- Properly package, label, date, and store finished products
- Assist with inventory management, including tracking ingredients and supplies
- Clean and maintain equipment and production areas daily or according to maintenance schedules.
Qualifications
- Previous kitchen, bakery, or ice cream production experience strongly preferred
- Ability to follow recipes precisely while maintaining efficiency
- Basic understanding of food safety practices (ServSafe certification a plus)
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods
- Strong organizational and time-management skills
- Passion for food, especially ice cream, desserts and pastry
- A positive, team-first mindset, communicates clearly, and contributes to a supportive, detail-driven production environment
Work Environment
- Fast-paced kitchen/production setting
- Exposure to cold and hot environments
- Exposure to potential allergens such as nuts, cinnamon, soy, gluten and dairy
- Early morning, evening, weekend, and holiday shifts may be required
- Must be over 18 to operate equipment
Reports To: Kitchen Manager and Franchise Owners/Operators
Pay: $17.25 - $19.25 per hour
