Job Summary
We are seeking a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) to join our mental health and behavioral health team. The LPC will provide comprehensive counseling services to diverse populations, including children, adolescents, adults, and seniors. This role involves conducting assessments, developing treatment plans, and delivering evidence-based therapies across various settings such as outpatient clinics, inpatient facilities, and telehealth platforms. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in psychotherapy, crisis intervention, and working with individuals with developmental disabilities or mental health challenges. The LPC will play a vital role in supporting patients' emotional well-being and recovery through compassionate care and clinical expertise.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct diagnostic evaluations and intake assessments utilizing ICD-9 and ICD-10 coding standards.
  • Develop individualized treatment plans based on patient needs and clinical best practices.
  • Provide individual, group, and family counseling using modalities such as cognitive-behavioral therapy, psychodynamic therapy, art therapy, dance therapy, and behavioral therapy.
  • Implement crisis management techniques to support patients experiencing acute mental health crises or trauma-related issues such as PTSD or grief.
  • Utilize motivational interviewing to foster patient engagement and motivation for change.
  • Document all patient interactions accurately in compliance with HIPAA regulations and medical documentation standards.
  • Coordinate care with multidisciplinary teams including medical professionals, social workers, special education staff, and case managers.
  • Maintain current knowledge of medical terminology, ICD coding (ICD-9/ICD-10), CPT coding, and behavioral health protocols.
  • Participate in clinical research projects or data collection efforts to improve treatment outcomes.
  • Provide telehealth services when appropriate, ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations and best practices for remote counseling.
  • Engage in ongoing professional development to stay current with advances in mental health treatment modalities including addiction counseling, psychopharmacology, working with people with autism or developmental disabilities, geriatrics, pediatric care, and gender issues counseling.

Qualifications

  • Valid state licensure as an LPC or equivalent credential.
  • Proven experience in psychotherapy across diverse populations; experience with children & family counseling preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of crisis intervention techniques, behavior management strategies, and trauma-informed care including PTSD care.
  • Familiarity with medical terminology related to behavioral health and mental health conditions.
  • Experience working in outpatient clinics, inpatient settings, or telehealth platforms is highly desirable.
  • Skills in ICD-9/ICD-10 coding for diagnostic evaluation and medical records documentation.
  • Ability to handle sensitive situations with professionalism while maintaining patient confidentiality per HIPAA standards.
  • Excellent communication skills for effective intake assessments and case management discussions.
  • Experience working with individuals with disabilities or special needs such as autism spectrum disorder or developmental disabilities is a plus.
