What are the responsibilities and job description for the Home Health Aide position at Better Tomorrow Home Healthcare Agency?
The PCA's responsibilities are assigned on a case-by-case basis determined by the Plan of Care, developed by the Registered Nurse. The Plan of Care identifies for the aide, the specific tasks to be performed and the frequency of each task. The PCA is expected to notify the RN of any deviation from the Plan of Care, accompanied by a detailed explanation. In addition, the PCA reports any and all changes in regular work assignments to the RN.
The responsibilities of the PCA include, but are not limited to, the following:
- assist with feeding
- meal planning
- assist with oral hygiene
- assist with bathing
- assist with hair and scalp hygiene
- assist with toileting
- light housekeeping
- laundry
- errands
- assist with and encourage mobility (range of motion/exercise)
- operating sided rails/call rails
- nail care
- dressing and undressing
- turning/repositioning
- transferring
- assist with ambulation
- intake and output
- bowel/bladder retraining
- vital signs
- medication management/reminder
- companionship/emotional support
- accompany clients to appointments and social outings
Qualifications:
- pca certificate
- high school diploma or equivalent
- up-to-date TB reading (within the last 90 days; able to obtain)
- able to pass background check
- previous pca experience or similar role is preferred but not required
- compassionate and patient demeanor
- excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- ability to follow instructions and work independently
- reliable transportation
