Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Personal Care Assistant to provide essential support to individuals in need of assistance with daily living activities. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in patient care, demonstrating empathy and understanding while ensuring the comfort and safety of those they assist. This role is vital in enhancing the quality of life for clients, particularly those with disabilities, dementia, or other health challenges.
Duties
- Assist clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) including bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting.
- Provide personal care and support for individuals in home health, assisted living, or nursing home settings.
- Monitor and document patient vital signs and changes in condition.
- Prepare meals and assist with meal planning according to dietary needs.
- Maintain a clean and safe environment by performing light housekeeping duties.
- Administer medications as prescribed and ensure adherence to care plans.
- Engage clients in social activities to promote mental well-being and companionship.
- Use specialized equipment such as Hoyer lifts for safe patient transfers when necessary.
- Provide support for individuals with developmental disabilities, Alzheimer’s disease, or autism through direct support techniques.
- Follow HIPAA regulations to maintain client confidentiality at all times.
Experience
Candidates should possess experience or training in the following areas:
- First aid and CPR certification is preferred.
- Previous work in group homes, nursing homes, or hospice care settings is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with memory care practices and dementia care strategies is beneficial.
- Experience in home & community care, including caregiving for seniors or individuals with disabilities.
- Skills in patient observation and monitoring are essential for recognizing changes in client conditions.
- Knowledge of meal preparation and cooking for special dietary needs is a plus.
