Responsibilities

Position Objective:

The Phlebotomist has a technical role and is responsible for efficiently and accurately collecting blood specimens from patients, ensuring a positive patient experience. The incumbent will report to the Lab Supervisor (or similar role) and will work closely with department team members and leaders to deliver exceptional 5-star patient care.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform venipuncture and capillary punctures on patients
  • Ensure the proper collection and labeling of blood specimens according to established protocols
  • Greet and interact with patients in a professional and compassionate manner
  • Explain the blood collection process to patients, address their concerns, and provide a supportive environment
  • Accurately document patient information and specimen details
  • Maintain organized and complete records of all phlebotomy activities
  • Adhere to infection control and safety guidelines during blood collection procedures
  • Follow established protocols to maintain compliance with regulatory requirements
  • Ensure proper functioning and cleanliness of phlebotomy equipment
  • Report any equipment malfunctions or issues promptly
  • Work collaboratively with other healthcare professionals to ensure seamless patient care
  • Communicate effectively with laboratory staff to facilitate the timely processing of specimens
  • Additional duties as assigned

Position Requirements/ Skills:

  • Highschool degree or equivalent required
  • Completion of a phlebotomy training program
  • Proven experience as a Phlebotomist in a healthcare environment
  • Knowledge of infection control and safety protocols
  • Working knowledge with Google Suite (Drive, Docs, Sheets, Slides) and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) for real-time collaboration
  • Familiarity with medical terminology and healthcare operations including electronic medical records

Physical Requirements:

  • Requires standing, walking, pushing, bending, kneeling, and reaching
  • Ability to remain in a stationary position, often standing or sitting for prolonged periods
  • Communicating with others to exchange information
  • Repeating motions that may include the wrist, hands, and/or fingers
  • Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range
  • Ability to operate a motor vehicle and have own means of transportation
  • Must be able to lift at least 15lbs at times

Pay Range

USD $17.00 - USD $20.00 /Hr.
