Job Summary
We are seeking compassionate and dedicated Direct Support Professionals (DSP) to provide high-quality care and support to individuals with developmental disabilities, seniors, and those requiring assistance with daily living activities. The DSP will play a vital role in promoting independence, safety, and well-being within home, community, and residential settings. Duties
- Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support
- Provide patient observation and monitor health status, including vital signs and medication administration
- Support individuals with dementia or Alzheimer's care, including memory care strategies and safety measures
- Prepare nutritious meals in accordance with care plans and dietary restrictions
- Operate assistive devices such as Hoyer lifts and ensure proper safety protocols are followed during transfers
- Maintain cleanliness of living spaces through light cleaning duties to promote a safe environment
- Document care activities accurately while adhering to HIPAA regulations and confidentiality standards
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to develop and implement individualized care plans
- Engage residents in social activities to promote mental health and community involvement
- Respond promptly to emergencies using CPR or First Aid skills when necessary
Requirements
- Prior experience in group homes, assisted living, nursing homes, or home & community care is preferred
- Knowledge of patient care techniques including assisting with ADLs, medication administration, and patient monitoring
- Certifications such as CPR and First Aid are highly desirable
- Experience working with people with developmental disabilities, autism, dementia, or memory care needs is advantageous
- Ability to lift heavy loads safely using equipment like Hoyer lifts; physical stamina for active caregiving tasks required
- Familiarity with HIPAA regulations and maintaining patient confidentiality
- Compassionate attitude with excellent communication skills and patience for working with diverse populations
- Valid driver’s license is a plus for community-based support roles
