What are the responsibilities and job description for the Senior Graphic Designer position at Better Business Bureau Serving Central & South Alabama?
Company Overview
BBB is a 100 year-old brand entering an important new chapter. As we refresh and modernize the brand, the opportunity is bigger than creating a new look: it is building a visual system that feels relevant, recognizable, and consistent across more than 90 markets in North America.
The Senior Graphic Designer, Brand Center of Excellence, sits at the center of that effort. Working with our creative agency, internal teams, and design talent across the BBB system, you will translate an evolving brand into practical tools, templates, and assets that teams can use every day.
This is not a production role waiting for a list of design requests. It is a senior, hands-on role for a designer who can steward the visual system, improve it, and earn the trust of experienced peers across a federated organization. You will balance consistency with flexibility, protecting what makes BBB recognizable while helping the brand continue to evolve. Better Business Bureau (BBB) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing marketplace trust since 1912. With a network of 90 independently incorporated local BBB organizations across the United States and Canada, we empower consumers to find trustworthy businesses, brands, and charities.
Responsibilities
- Translate BBB's brand system into clear, compelling work across social, digital, print, and event channels.
- Apply the principles behind the system, not just its templates, to meet new creative needs while maintaining one visual voice.
- Create practical, ready-to-use templates, toolkits, and asset packages that help local teams move quickly and confidently.
- Release new system-ready assets on a reliable monthly cadence.
- Partner with our creative agency to turn strategic direction and campaign concepts into complete, implementation-ready programs for national and local use.
- Develop concepts and cohesive asset systems for national gatherings, local activations, campaigns, and always-on communications.
- Turn agency direction into social packages designed for the way local teams actually publish, not only for how the work appears in a presentation.
Requirements
- · 7 years of professional graphic design experience, including meaningful work within an established brand system, not only one-off creative assignments.
- Advanced, daily working proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, and Getty Images.
- A portfolio demonstrating range across social, digital, print, and event design, with clear evidence of maintaining brand consistency while keeping the work fresh.
- Experience translating strategy or agency direction into polished, on-brand work at scale and on deadline.
- Strong concept development, typography, layout, image selection, and production skills across digital and print formats.
- Experience operating in a federated, franchise, chapter-based, or multi-location organization, where influence and trust matter as much as formal authority.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills, with the judgment to give clear creative direction and receive feedback productively.
- A proactive mindset: you recognize when to propose a better approach and when the right answer is excellent execution.
- If you're passionate about making a difference through effective marketing strategies, we invite you to apply for the graphic design position at Better Business Bureau today!
