Job Title: Biology Lab Manager
Reporting Structure: 1) Chair of the Department of Natural Sciences; 2) Dean of the College of Science, Engineering, and Mathematics; and 3) Provost/Vice President of Academic Affairs
Division: College of Science, Engineering, and Mathematics, Department of Natural Sciences
Job Summary: Preparation of materials for all general biology laboratory sections and other selected courses, inventory control, supervising work-study students, supervise storage and removal of hazardous materials, ensuring compliance with State and OSHA regulations, and other duties assigned by the Department Head or Dean.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- BS or Master’s degree in biology, chemistry or related field is preferred. Preference will be given to applicants with backgrounds in cellular or molecular biology or prior experience.
- Demonstrated awareness of and sensitivity to diverse student populations and ability to contribute to the University’s commitment to enhancing student awareness and appreciation of diverse ethnic and cultural heritages.
Preferred Skills, Experience and Education:
- The new hire will be required to become certified in handling hazardous waste.
Physical Requirements:
- Working environment is a normal business office setting
- Normal manual dexterity and visual and auditory acuity
- Typically, the incumbent may sit comfortably to do the work. However, there may be some walking, standing, bending or carrying of light items
