Bethlehem Central School District is currently seeking applications for an 8 hour per day Assistant Superintendent of Buildings and Grounds. Salary range $85,000 - $90,000 commensurate with experience.
TYPICAL DUTIES
This administrative leadership role involves supporting the Facilities Director and Superintendent of Buildings & Grounds in overseeing all components of facility management and capital construction. Direct supervision is provided for custodial, maintenance, and health and safety staff within the Operations and Maintenance Department. Duties and responsibilities include but not limited to, directing and managing daily facility operations; oversight of the departmental fiscal budget; procurement and competitive bidding processes for supplies and repair materials; assisting in developing strategic long-range project plans, developing and implementing immediate project plans; and executing various operational initiatives. Performs other related tasks as assigned.
Job Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS:
Any candidate with permanent Civil Service status as an Assistant Superintendent of Buildings & Grounds (or reachable on existing Civil Service eligibility list) may apply:
Thorough knowledge of building systems and cleaning practices, equipment, supplies, and materials; Ability to plan and supervise the work of a large number of custodial & maintenance employees; Ability to get along well with others; Ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions; Ability to generate reports; Initiative; Thoroughness; Dependability; Sound judgment; Attention to detail. Ability to operate a personal computer and utilize common office software programs including word processing, spreadsheet and databases at an acceptable rate of accuracy and speed; Ability to operate access control, security camera, building automation, , and other software programs; Ability to make arithmetic computations involving fractions, decimals and percentage accurately; ability to read and understand blueprints; ability to analyze and organize data and prepare records and reports; physical condition commensurate with the demands of the position.
PROMOTIONAL: Twenty-four (24) months as a Head Custodian
OPEN COMPETITIVE: Graduation from High School and three (3) years of experience in large scale building maintenance activities, one (1) year of which shall have involved supervisory responsibilities.
NON-COMPETITIVE PROMOTIONAL: Twenty-four (24) months as a Building Maintenance Mechanic
