The Bethlehem Area Public Library has an opening for a part-time Technician at our South Side Branch, 400 Webster St, Bethlehem, PA. The position is 29 hours per week and pay is $20 per hour. I. POSITION
A. Title: Branch Technician
B. Department: South Side Branch
C. Supervisor: Branch Manager
II. QUALIFICATIONS
A. Bachelor’s degree or 2 years college education plus one year library experience
B. Ability to work well with the public
C. Reference skills, with proficiency in internet and online database searching
D. Proficiency with the use of computers
E. Comfort with working as a team to ensure successful events
F. Clerical skills
G. Ability to listen and clearly communicate with patrons in person, on the telephone,
and via email
III. JOB SUMMARY
The Branch Technician’s responsibilities include general library tasks,
reference duties (including online research,) and other special projects as assigned
by the Branch Manager.
IV. MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
A. Provides reference and reader’s advisory assistance to patrons
B. Provides basic assistance to patrons using the internet and
the library e-resources, as needed
C. Promotes library services to the community through tasks such as creating library
flyers
D. Performs general duties at the circulation desk
F. Manages the Branch Book Sale, including sorting book donations and hosting
periodic sale events
G. Other duties as assigned by supervisor
