THIS IS A TEMPORARY POSITION. This position will be hired through the Pierce County Skills Center, not the Bethel School District.
PCSC Summer School Student Intern
Work Period Will Be Either
Session 1: Monday, June 22, 2026 - Friday, July 10, 2026 (No work July 3)
Session 2: Monday, July 13, 2026-Thursday, July 31, 2026
Hours: 7:30am-3pm
PAY FOR THIS POSITION: $18 per hour.
APPLICANTS MUST BE A CURRENT PCSC STUDENT. PREFERENCE WILL BE GIVEN TO STUDENTS WHO WILL BE RETURNING NEXT SCHOOL YEAR AS A YEAR 2 STUDENT.
General Summary
This position's responsibilities are to assist PCSC instructors as a teacher assistant during summer school.
Essential Functions
Depending upon the individual assignment, the Summer School Student Intern may perform all or a combination of the following:
Reports to the Assistant Director of the Pierce County Skills Center.
MENTAL DEMANDS
Required concentration and attention to detail. Must be able to work with high school-aged students in a classroom and/or shop environment.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
May be required to lift up to 50 pounds depending on placement.
Minimum Qualifications
Education and Experience
Must be a current PCSC student who will successfully complete a Year 1 or Year 2 program by the end of the 2026 regular school year.
Required Knowledge, Skills And Abilities
Ability to communicate effectively.
Must be on time and available to work all days of the summer school session.
Licenses/Special Requirements
Requires fingerprinting and background check to determine that there have been no convictions involving physical molestation, abuse, injury or neglect of a minor.

- Must be able to communicate effectively with students
- Assist instructor with lesson plans and help to prepare classroom appropriately
- Lead small groups within the summer school program
- Support instructor during class time
- Performs related duties consistent with the scope and intent of the position
- Ensures safety protocols are followed at all times and immediately reports any unsafe behavior to classroom instructor
