Bethel Wellness Community is seeking an experienced Director of Nursing (DON) to lead the nursing team at our not-for-profit senior care campus in Evansville.
Bethel has served the Evansville community for over 75 years and includes Bethel Manor (long-term care) and The Rehab Cottage, our innovative short-term rehabilitation model designed to help patients return home successfully.
We are looking for a strong clinical leader who supports staff, builds trust with the team, and works collaboratively to maintain high standards of care.
Position Summary
The Director of Nursing provides leadership and oversight for all nursing services on campus. The DON works closely with the Administrator, nurse managers, and interdisciplinary team to support excellent resident care, regulatory compliance, and a positive working environment for staff.
This role requires both strong clinical knowledge and the ability to lead people well.
Responsibilities
- Provide leadership and oversight of the nursing department
- Support and mentor nurse managers, nurses, and nursing assistants
- Ensure compliance with state and federal regulations
- Maintain survey readiness and oversee clinical quality initiatives
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to support strong resident outcomes
- Assist with staffing strategies, scheduling oversight, and workforce development
- Promote a positive, respectful culture within the nursing department
- Support quality improvement and clinical program development
Qualifications
- Current Indiana RN license
- Experience in long-term care or skilled nursing leadership
- Previous Director of Nursing or Assistant Director of Nursing experience preferred
- Knowledge of CMS regulations and survey process
- Strong communication and leadership skills
- Ability to lead a team while maintaining a collaborative work environment
