Here’s what you’ll do:
- Support overall resident well-being and safety.
- Monitor residents overnight for safety, comfort, and any changes in condition.
- Assist residents with toileting, repositioning, mobility, and personal care as needed.
- Provide hands-on support for grooming, bathing (if needed), and nutrition/snacks.
- Take and record vital signs, fluid intake, and output accurately.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and organized environment.
- Assist with documentation and handoff reports to day shift staff.
- Provide reassurance, companionship, and emotional support to residents and families.
- Document residents’ behaviors, mood changes, and any significant observations.
- Ensure call lights are answered promptly.
- Report any changes in residents’ conditions promptly to the Charge Nurse.
- Follow infection control procedures, including proper use of PPE.
- Assist in emergency situations as directed by the Charge Nurse.
- Ensure residents’ rooms and personal spaces are clean, safe, and comfortable.
- Support licensed nurses (RNs/LPNs) in carrying out care procedures.
- Help train or mentor new CNAs or nursing assistants (if experienced).
- Additional job duties as required.
Physical Requirements:
o Ability to lift/push/pull up to 25–50 lbs.
o Ability to stand, walk, bend, and move for extended periods.
o Ability to assist with resident transfers safely (including use of mechanical lifts).
Work Requirements:
o Must pass a criminal background check.
o Must have a negative TB test or be willing to complete one.
o Must meet facility immunization requirements (e.g., flu shot, COVID-19 if applicable).
o Must follow infection prevention and safety protocols.
o Ability to work the overnight shift.
o Willingness to take part in scheduled weekend/holiday rotations.
Here’s what you’ll need:
- High school diploma or GED.
- Active CNA certification in the state of South Dakota (preferred, but not required).
- Experience in long-term care or skilled nursing (preferred, but not required).

- Ability to successfully pass CNA certification training, if applicable.
- Comfortable working with the geriatric population.
- Patient and attentive to residents’ needs.
