Activities Assistant

Position Overview:

The Activities Assistant helps create a positive, engaging environment for residents by assisting with activity programs that promote socialization, recreation, emotional wellness, and overall quality of life. This role encourages resident participation and helps ensure activities are meaningful, enjoyable, and appropriate for individual needs.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Assist with planning, organizing, setting up, and leading daily and weekly activity programs for residents
• Encourage resident participation and provide support during group and individual activities.
• Help create a welcoming, fun, and stimulating atmosphere for residents.
• Observe residents during activities and report concerns, changes, or needs to the supervisor promptly.
• Maintain confidentiality of resident and facility information at all times.
• Exercise good judgment and make sound decisions while working independently or as part of a team.
• Follow all Bethany Village policies, procedures, and safety standards.
• Support special events, celebrations, and community programs as needed.
  
  

Basic Duties & Responsibilities

• Promote a safe environment for residents, visitors, and fellow employees.
• Adhere to all fire safety, emergency, and evacuation procedures.
• Maintain a professional, dependable, and positive attitude.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
  
  

Requirements

Education Required:

• High school diploma is required for this position.
• Ability to read and write English is also required for this position.
• Valid NYS Driver’s License is required.
  
  

Experience Required

• Minimum training time of 1 month should be expected in order to satisfactorily perform this job.
  
  

Hazards

• No significant hazards should be expected for this position.
• MSDS sheets are available for all chemicals used.

Working Conditions

• Hours: This position may require to work off shifts as necessary.
• Weekends and traveling may be required as needed.
• Working conditions for this position may include the following: Inside, outside, hot, cold, sudden temperature changes, humid, dry, wet, odors, noisy, adequate lighting/ventilation, moving objects, cramped quarters, working with/around others, working alone.
  
  

Mental, Physical, & Visual Demands

Some moderate lifting required(~20 lbs, @ 5% of the time)

~10 lbs, @5% of time

<10 lbs, throughout the day.

Constant walking, pushing, talking, hearing, seeing, depth perception, concentration, and maintenance of an appropriate working speed are required for this position.
