SUMMARY:
Under supervision of laundry supervisor, maintains laundry for the facility and residents.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Perform tasks to assure all resident and facility laundry is properly sorted, washed, dried, folded ironed or hung. Picks up and delivers linens. Receives resident personal items from nursing to be laundered and returns residents personal laundry after laundering.
- Operates all appropriate equipment to perform department functions. Understands functions of laundry agents such as soap, bleach, softener and other chemicals. Recognizes various fabrics and knows proper techniques and use of equipment and laundry agents and fabric care.
- Follows all established laundry and safety guidelines. Adheres to infection control practices when performing laundry procedures.
- Follows all facility policies.
- Maintains effective relationships with employees, residents and the general public.
- Must be able to work flexible hours.
- Performs all routine cleaning, housekeeping and safety duties within the department.
- Attends staff and in-service meetings as required.
- Performs other related assigned duties.
