Job Summary
Bethany Health and Rehabilitation is seeking an experienced and motivated Director of Housekeeping to lead our environmental services department. This role is responsible for ensuring a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for residents, staff, and visitors while maintaining compliance with healthcare regulations.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee daily operations of housekeeping and laundry departments
Supervise, train, schedule, and evaluate housekeeping staff
Ensure compliance with infection control standards and regulatory requirements (CMS, state health department)
Maintain cleanliness of resident rooms, common areas, offices, and clinical spaces
Develop and implement cleaning schedules, policies, and procedures
Monitor inventory and proper use of cleaning supplies and equipment
Conduct routine inspections and quality assurance audits
Collaborate with nursing, maintenance, and administration teams
Address resident and family concerns regarding cleanliness
Prepare department for state surveys and inspections
Manage departmental budget and control costs
Qualifications
Previous housekeeping experience in a nursing home or healthcare setting required
Prior supervisory or management experience preferred
Knowledge of infection control and environmental services standards
Familiarity with CMS and state survey processes
Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills
Ability to work flexible hours, including occasional weekends/holidays
