QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school graduate or equivalent.
- Must have safe driving skills and ability to work with motorized equipment appropriate to fulfilling job duties.
- Must be able to clearly and effectively communicate verbally to resident needs.
- Must be able to communicate effectively, must be able to read, write, and understand English.
- Must possess sight/hearing senses with or without prosthetics use that will enable these senses to function adequately so that the requirements of this position can be fully met.
- Must possess the ability to lift, push, or pull in excess of fifty pounds (50), with or without the use of adaptive devices.

JOB SUMMARY:
Performs safe vehicle driving services as requested and scheduled to the residents of Bethany Gardens.
ENVIRONMENTAL/WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Limited exposure to blood, body tissues, and fluids, with occasional exposure to infectious waste, diseases, conditions and hazardous materials.
- Subject to falls, burns from equipment.
- May be subject to unpleasant odors and noises throughout the workday.
- Must be able to sit, stand, push, pull, lift, move, and bend as needed.
- May be subject to hostile and emotionally upset residents, family members, and visitors.
- Subject to stress of working around sick residents and their families including residents who may be confused, irrational, highly agitated, combative or given to abrupt mood swings.
- Non-union position as hours varies and are based on the weekly transportation needs of the facility.
- May be required to work outdoors in adverse weather conditions.
RESPONSIBILITY IN AN EMERGENCY:
All employees are expected to respond to emergency situations involving the safety of residents, other employees and the physical plant. This includes the ability to respond to audio/visual fire alarm system and to assist with the possible evacuation of residents.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Operates all facility vehicles.
- Assist riders entering and exiting vehicles.
- Conduct and document preventative checks of vehicles, including but not limited to check of oil, gas, coolant and other key fluids.
- Wash facility vehicles as needed.
- Arrange for periodic servicing of vehicles.
- Receives and follows oral and written work assignments from the Director of Maintenance or designee
- Any and all other duties as assigned by the Director of Maintenance/designee.
PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT:
- Attends and participates in in-service educational classes and seminars.
- Participates in staff meetings as appropriate.
- Participates in the Facility’s quality improvement activities as required.
- Assists the Facility in identifying opportunities for quality improvement by sharing ideas/concerns with Director of Quality Assurance/Improvement Coordinator.
SAFETY/SANITATION:
- Follows all safety, security, sanitation and infection control (including universal precautions) and hazardous materials policies and procedures.
- Reports all equipment malfunctions as well as unsafe/hazardous conditions to supervisor and follows lock out, tag out procedures.
- Utilizes proper body mechanics when pushing, pulling, lifting, moving, or transporting residents, equipment or supplies.
- Maintains assigned work areas, resident care rooms, locker areas, etc., in a neat, clean, safe, and sanitary manner.
RESIDENT RIGHTS AND CONFIDENTIALITY:
- Maintains confidentiality of all resident information.
- Assures residents rights and privacy are protected at all times.
- Reports any violations or suspected deviations of resident right and confidentiality to Supervisor.
GENERAL FACILITY POLICY:
- Interacts with residents, family members, visitors, and all facility staff in a courteous, cooperative, and professional manner.
- Is neat, well groomed and dressed in accordance with facility’s established dress code.
- Facility identification badge/name tag is worn per facility policy.
- Attendance is dependable.
- Is punctual and adheres to work schedule.
- Must not use cell phone while on duty, in Resident areas; all phones must be turned off.
