Nursing Site Director (Responsible for adhering to WVBOE Code & CCNE Policies & Standards)
Dual-Degree BSN Program (Bethany College / West Virginia Wesleyan College)
Bethany College invites applications for a Nursing Site Director to support the Dual-Degree BSN Program, through which students earn a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from West Virginia Wesleyan College and a Bachelor of Arts in Interdisciplinary Studies from Bethany College. This position is a full-time faculty appointment at Bethany College.
Appointment and Faculty Status
· The Nursing Site Director is a full-time faculty member of Bethany College.
· All matters related to faculty rank, contract renewal, evaluation, service expectations, promotion, tenure eligibility, and leave are governed exclusively by Bethany College.
Academic and Programmatic Coordination
· For nursing curriculum delivery, clinical instruction, skills and simulation laboratories, and student supervision, the Director works in coordination with WVWC’s School of Nursing.
· The Director adheres to all applicable WVBOE Code requirements and CCNE Policies and Standards.
· Bethany College is responsible for the Interdisciplinary Studies curriculum, advising, and academic oversight.
Reporting Structure
· Academic and Programmatic Reporting (Nursing): WVWC Director, School of Nursing.
· Institutional and Employment Reporting: Bethany College Vice President for Academic Affairs.
Responsibilities
· Oversee classroom, clinical, skills lab, and simulation lab learning experiences at the Bethany College site.
· Serve as academic advisor to all Bethany students enrolled in the Dual-Degree BSN program.
· Act as liaison between Bethany College and WVWC, coordinating with WVWC Director, Skills/Simulation Director, nursing faculty, and Bethany support course faculty to ensure curriculum alignment and a high-quality learning environment.
· Provide on-site support during classroom hours, including troubleshooting live-stream and technology issues, and maintain a minimum of five (5) office hours per week.
· Serve as on-site proctor for nursing examinations.
· Manage daily operations of the simulation lab, including scheduling, inventory, equipment maintenance, and procurement, ensuring safety and compliance with OSHA and other applicable regulations.
· Collaborate with WVWC nursing and simulation faculty to design, implement, and evaluate simulation-based learning activities aligned with curriculum goals and evidence-based best practices.
· Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of simulation activities and implement improvements as needed.
· Provide instruction and evaluation in various clinical settings.
· Maintain effective communication and collaboration with faculty, staff, students, and other stakeholders.
· Attend WVWC School of Nursing monthly meetings and Bethany College meetings; serve on College committees as assigned.
· Stay current with advancements in simulation technology, adult learning principles, and simulation pedagogy.
· Participate in Bethany College service, scholarship, and professional development consistent with faculty expectations.
Required Qualifications
· Master’s degree or higher in Nursing from an accredited school of nursing.
· Current, non-encumbered Registered Nurse license or eligibility for licensure in West Virginia.
· Minimum of three (3) years of experience in direct patient care or nursing skills/simulation lab instruction, with knowledge of nursing skills and simulation practices.
· Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills, including the ability to communicate effectively with faculty and students, both orally and in writing.
· Proficiency with technology, including PC and/or Mac platforms, Microsoft Office, and the ability to quickly learn new software and instructional technologies.
· Knowledge of laboratory safety procedures, including the handling and disposal of hazardous wastes.
· Ability to serve as a clinical instructor in various clinical settings.
· Proficiency in simulation software, equipment operation, and troubleshooting.
· Familiarity with adult learning principles, simulation pedagogy, and regulatory guidelines.
· Ability to work effectively with diverse individuals and teams.
· Ability to evaluate, improve, and stay current with simulation activities and best practices.
Preferred Qualifications
· Five (5) years or more experience as a RN.
· Knowledge of ATI resources.
· Nursing Education courses specifically in evaluation and assessment.
· Member (or willingness to become member) of the Society for Simulation in Healthcare Certification.
· Certified Healthcare Simulation Educator (CHSE).
· Certified Healthcare Simulation Operations Specialist (CHSOS).
