What are the responsibilities and job description for the Aftercare Assistant position at Beth Tfiloh Congregation & Schools?
Beth Tfiloh Preschool is looking for an aftercare assistant for our preschool for the hours of 1:00-5:00pm Monday-Friday. In this position the individual provides flexible teaching, and caregiving across all preschool classrooms. They step in to maintain required teacher-to-child ratios, cover staff breaks, and ensure a safe, engaging learning environment for children aged 2 to 5.

Key Responsibilities:
- Care for children ages 2-5 years of age
- Build positive relationships with parents. Making them feel comfortable they are leaving their children with reliable childcare providers
- Always keep the safety and well-being of the children their main priority. Working in collaboration with other staff to keep the rooms and toys clean.
- Implement activities given by lead after care coordinator. These may include crafts, projects, or movement activities/games.
- Communicate positively with students and colleagues.
- Participate in staff meetings, training, and school events as needed.
- Additional duties as assigned by Director
- High school diploma or equivalent required; CDA (Child Development Associate) credentials preferred.
- Minimum of 1 year working with children in a licensed childcare facility or preschool setting.
- Background Check: Ability to pass a mandatory state criminal background check and fingerprinting.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- High school diploma required; coursework or credentials in early childhood education a plus.
- Ability to change classrooms, age groups, and tasks multiple times per day with a positive attitude.
- Capacity to stand, sit on the floor, bend, and lift up to 40 pounds frequently.
- Ability to take quick directions from lead teachers and verbally brief parents at pickup when needed.
