Supporting these inventories through field data collection, spatial analysis, and mapping is a growing service at BETA Group, Inc. We are seeking a 2027 Summer Intern - GIS to support municipal transportation projects by assisting with data collection, GIS data development, and map production. This is a hands-on opportunity to work alongside engineers, planners, and scientists, gain real-world GIS experience, and build valuable skills through cross-training and mentorship.

We are seeking a 2027 Summer Intern - GIS to support municipal transportation projects by assisting with data collection, GIS data development, and map production. Responsibilities:
- Create eye-catching maps, graphics, and visualizations used in real client projects
- Analyze spatial data to support transportation, environmental, water, and land development projects
- Assist with building and maintaining GIS databases and web maps
- Support field data collection and integrate data into GIS platforms
- Perform geoprocessing and basic spatial analysis
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and learn how GIS fits into the full project lifecycle
- Learn new skills and contribute to project tasks and activities
- Ask lots of questions!

Required Experience/Skills:
- Enrolled in a Bachelor’s degree program in GIS, Geography, Geomatics, Environmental Science, Civil Engineering, or a related field
- Understanding of general engineering theory and concepts
- Proficient in the use of current technology (i.e., tablets, smart phones, laptops, etc.)
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
- Strong technical aptitude with an eagerness to learn
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong problem-solving skills with attention to detail
- Must be able to collect field data and measurements including but not limited to roadway, sidewalk, and utility assets; and perform asset inspections
- Must be able to lift/move objects weighing up to 40 pounds
- Must be able to perform field work in both hot and cold weather (rain and/or snow)
- Must be able to stand or sit for long periods of time
- Must have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
- ESRI (ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS online, etc.)
- General working knowledge of AutoCAD and/or other CAD platform
- OSHA 10 Certification
