We are seeking a dedicated and energetic Direct Support Professional (DSP) for Individualized Living Supports (ILS) to empower individuals with developmental and cognitive disabilities to live fulfilling, independent lives. Responsibilities

• Assist clients with daily living activities such as personal hygiene, grooming, dressing, and meal preparation to promote independence and self-care skills.
• Support clients in accessing community resources, including transportation to appointments, social activities, and recreational outings using standard passenger cars.
• Implement behavior management strategies tailored to individual needs, especially for clients with autism or neurodevelopmental disorders.
• Collect data on client progress, document observations accurately, and maintain detailed records of services provided.
• Administer medications following prescribed protocols and ensure medication safety through proper documentation and communication with healthcare teams.
• Facilitate communication with clients using various methods including American Sign Language (ASL) when applicable, ensuring effective client engagement.
• Provide first aid and CPR as needed to ensure safety during emergencies or accidents.

Skills

• Experience working with individuals with autism, developmental disabilities, or neurodevelopmental disorders in home or community settings.
• Strong understanding of special education principles and behavioral health practices related to behavior management.
• Excellent communication skills for client interaction, team collaboration, and documentation purposes.
• Ability to operate a standard passenger car safely for personal transportation assistance and client outings.
• Knowledge of assisting with activities of daily living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, feeding, and mobility support.
• Familiarity with data collection methods and medication administration procedures in compliance with health standards.
• Compassionate caregiving mindset combined with patience and adaptability to meet diverse client needs.

Qualifications

• Previous experience providing Independent Living Services (ILS) or Supported Living Services (SLS) preferred
• Familiarity with implementing individualized care plans and support strategies
• Compassionate, patient, and dependable
• Ability to teach and motivate individuals with diverse learning styles

Requirements:

• High school diploma or equivalent required (Associate's or Bachelor's degree in a related field preferred).
• Current and valid California driver's license.
• Reliable personal vehicle with current automobile insurance.
• Ability and willingness to drive clients and travel throughout the community as needed.
• Current TB test/clearance as required by state and agency regulations.
• Ability to pass all required background checks and clearances.
• Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
• Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities is preferred but not required.
• Ability to work independently while maintaining accurate documentation and reporting.
• Basic computer skills and ability to complete required service notes and reports.
