Role Description
We’re seeking a fun and energetic individual who is looking for a position in our growing export solutions business. This position is oriented to helping complete our international client’s transactions; ensuring that our customer’s cargo is handled with the utmost care. Transportation experience is helpful, but not required.
Typical office hours are 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM - Monday through Friday. This is a full-time on-site role for an Export Operations Agent based in Kansas City, MO. The Export Operations Agent will be responsible for coordinating and managing export shipments, communicating with customers and carriers, ensuring compliance with international shipping regulations, and handling freight forwarding operations. The role involves daily interaction with clients and partners both to provide high-quality customer service and support throughout the export process.
Qualifications
- Strong Communication and Customer Service skills
- Experience in Freight Forwarding Export Operations preferred but not required
- Attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
- Ability to be Dynamic in order to concentrate and perform under pressure
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office products
- Ability to work effectively individually and as part of a team
- Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business, or 3-5 years professional experience
- Energetic, flexible and open to new ideas
- CargoWise experience preferred but not required
Duties
This position's duties include but are not limited to:
- Communicating with our customers and vendors via multiple modes of communication, including phone and email
- Quoting ocean and air Shipments
- Coordinate freight movement with local carriers, airlines, steamship lines and overseas partners
- Create transportation documents (air waybills, ocean bills of lading) using the CargoWise platform
- Create and manage various other shipping documents required for export
- Follow compliance SOPs to ensure regulatory compliance with FMC, US Census, TSA, Hazardous Goods Regulations and all other import and export government agencies that regulate international trade
- Create invoices for freight and related charges
- Vendor selection and auditing of payables for export transactions
- Manage the timely tracking/tracing of processed shipments
- Foster a trusted, friendly advisor role to our shipper contacts toward mutual success
