Chief Operating Officer, New York, NY , Alternative Investment Manager
A leading alternative investment manager is seeking an experienced Chief Operating Officer to join its executive leadership team in New York.
The firm manages capital on behalf of institutional investors, family offices, pension funds and sophisticated allocators across North America and Europe.
Having experienced significant growth over the past five years, the organisation is entering a new phase of scale and complexity. The Board and executive team are focused on ensuring operational maturity, governance oversight and organisational resilience continue to evolve alongside the business.
The Chief Operating Officer will play a central role in helping the firm achieve that objective.
Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer and working closely with the Board, investors, regulators and senior leadership team, the COO will be responsible for strengthening the firm's operational platform while ensuring governance and control frameworks remain aligned with increasing stakeholder expectations.
Key Responsibilities
- Executive ownership of operational resilience and enterprise operating controls
- Oversight of technology, cyber and data governance frameworks
- Leadership of SEC examination readiness and regulatory engagement activities
- Governance and oversight of key outsourced and third-party service providers
- Support institutional investor operational due diligence processes
- Drive scalable operating model development across the firm
- Lead executive reporting on operational, technology and risk matters
- Partner with Compliance, Finance, Technology and Risk leadership to ensure strong governance alignment
- Ensure governance maturity continues to keep pace with organisational growth
Experience Required
- 15 years of leadership experience within asset management, alternatives, hedge funds, private markets or institutional investment environments
- Previous COO, Deputy COO, Chief Administrative Officer or equivalent executive leadership experience
- Strong knowledge of SEC-regulated operating environments
- Experience engaging directly with boards, investors and regulators
- Demonstrated leadership of operational resilience, governance and risk oversight programmes
- Ability to communicate complex operational and technology matters at executive and board level
