🏥 Position Overview

The Angio/Interventionalist will support a wide range of diagnostic and interventional procedures, including angiography, vascular interventions, embolizations, drain placements, biopsies, ablations, and Neuro-IR procedures.

You may function as a scrub technologist, circulating technologist, or monitoring technologist, depending on procedural needs and department protocols.


Key Responsibilities

  • Perform and assist with angiography and interventional radiology procedures
  • Scrub, circulate, monitor, and provide procedural support according to department standards
  • Operate IR imaging equipment and related information systems to produce high-quality diagnostic images
  • Prepare patients for procedures, verify patient identity/orders, and ensure appropriate documentation and consent
  • Maintain strict sterile technique and infection-control practices
  • Follow radiation safety standards and wear the required personal radiation monitoring badge
  • Assist with selection, preparation, and deployment of invasive and interventional supplies
  • Provide patient education, comfort, and reassurance throughout procedures
  • Recognize emergent patient situations and respond appropriately
  • Maintain accurate records of procedures, patient information, adverse reactions, and incidents
  • Communicate pertinent patient and procedural information to the care team
  • Maintain procedural areas and ensure necessary supplies are stocked
  • Transport patients as needed
  • Assist with sheath removal/management and achieving hemostasis
  • Participate in quality control and report equipment issues or failures appropriately


🩻 Procedure Experience

Experience with a variety of interventional procedures is highly valued, including:

  • Angiography
  • Vascular procedures
  • SIRT mapping and treatments
  • Embolizations
  • Nephrostomy tube placements
  • Biliary tube placements
  • CT-guided drains
  • CT-guided biopsies
  • CT-guided ablations
  • Neuro-IR stroke procedures
  • Diagnostic Neuro-IR procedures


📋 Required Qualifications

  • 1–2 years of vascular or interventional experience
  • Demonstrated experience performing angiography procedures
  • Experience with vascular/interventional procedures
  • Strong knowledge of anatomy, positioning, and anatomical terminology
  • Proficiency operating radiographic and interventional imaging equipment
  • Knowledge of patient identification and safety protocols
  • Strong understanding of sterile technique and infection control
  • Ability to recognize and respond to emergency patient situations
  • Ability to provide appropriate patient care and education
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced procedural environment
  • Ability to maintain accurate documentation


🎓 Required Certifications

  • ARRT(R) – American Registry of Radiologic Technologists
  • BLS – AHA

Preferred:

  • Vascular/Interventional Radiography certification
  • Applicable state licensure and/or additional relevant certifications
  • Prior Neuro-IR or advanced interventional experience


☢️ Radiation Safety Requirement

A personal radiation monitoring badge/dosimeter is required for this assignment. Candidates with an existing badge from a previous employer or assignment are encouraged to use it when available to maintain continuity of their exposure history.

  • 3 or 4 × 10-hour day shifts per week
  • Approximately 40 hours/week
  • Call required
  • Typically 1 weekday call shift per week
