Junior Materials Buyer

Job Description

Works under general supervision of the Materials Department leadership to ensure that materials, supplies, and services meet or exceed operations and customer expectations. Effectively follows all written and taught SOPs / procedures and instructions. Focuses on ordering materials, working with procurement software, and tracking deliveries to meet production timelines.

Responsibilities and Duties

· Maintain accurate and timely order placements.

· Process daily MRP reports

· Deliver zero stockouts due to purchase order and planning inaccuracies.

· Provide timely procurement lead time quotes for sales.

· Manage and update inventory stocking levels.

· Resolve order discrepancies swiftly to avoid delays in receiving items.

· Foster effective communication with suppliers within the team and across departments.

Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills, & Attributes

· Desire minimum 1-year general inventory / warehouse experience, or any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to perform the work.

· Intermediate computer and software use.

Work Environment & Physical Demands

· Work is performed primarily in a warehouse environment with moderate noise levels. The employee in this class is frequently subject to environmental conditions, which provide protection from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature changes.

· Position requires enough personal mobility and physical reflexes which permit the employee to work in a general warehouse.

· Constantly requires clarity of speech and hearing, which permits the employee to communicate effectively.

· Requires clear vision to read printed materials and computer screens to accomplish work.

· Requires repetitive movement of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers.

· Occasionally requires bending, climbing and reaching overhead and counting of materials.
