Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Warehouse/Driver to join our team. This role involves a combination of warehouse duties and driving responsibilities, ensuring efficient operations in both areas. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication skills, mechanical knowledge, and experience with various types of vehicles. This position is essential for maintaining our logistics and delivery operations while adhering to safety standards.
Duties
- Safely operate commercial vehicles, including box trucks, flatbeds, and tractor-trailers for deliveries and pickups.
- Load and unload freight using forklifts, pallet jacks, and manual handling techniques.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles to ensure safety and compliance with regulations.
- Maintain accurate records of deliveries, including route details and cargo information.
- Assist with inventory management in the warehouse, including organizing stock and conducting regular counts.
- Communicate effectively with team members and clients regarding delivery schedules and any issues that may arise during transport.
- Perform routine maintenance on vehicles as needed to ensure optimal performance.
- Adhere to all safety protocols while operating heavy equipment or machinery within the warehouse environment.
Experience
- Proven experience as a delivery driver or in a similar role within a warehouse setting.
- Familiarity with commercial driving regulations and practices, including route driving and shuttle driving experience.
- Mechanical knowledge related to vehicle operation and maintenance is highly desirable.
- Experience operating heavy equipment such as dump trucks, tow trucks, or paratransit vehicles is a plus.
- Previous work in freight handling or logistics is advantageous.
