What are the responsibilities and job description for the Maintenance Assistant position at Best Western Snowcap Lodge?
Seeking a local, well-organized, reliable, and detail-oriented assistant to our maintenance person. Must have the highest integrity, be responsible, and mature. Note: We work when others play. This includes holidays, weekends, some evenings, and some all call - all of which are a mandatory part of this position.
Our default is to maintain and repair equipment, instead of throwing away. The qualified maintenance assistant must be able to assist with diagnostic troubleshooting of hotel equipment and maintain the interior and exterior of building and property. This includes:
Balance daily chemistry of pool & spa, troubleshooting & maintenance of commercial washer/dryer, sprinkler heads, system troubleshooting all HVAC units, pumps, and general maintenance diagnostics of hotel, coffee makers, microwaves, hair dryers, food warmers, toasters, etc., maintenance to plumbing, landscaping, preventative maintenance of building, guest rooms, common areas, and the rest of the property.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Required to work independently at times; work will be reviewed, tracked, and inspected
- Typical work will include: Painting, texturing, drywall; plumbing; HVAC adjustments; moving and repairing furniture; maintaining pool and spa; appliance repair; landscaping; supervising vendors; supervising construction, roofing and other crews under direction of owner/ management; emptying trash cans, breaking down boxes and take to dumpster; replacing building light bulbs; climbing ladder; and other general maintenance and repair work
- Required to establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with customers and manager/staff
- Preferred ability to troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair issues with electronics, appliances, etc.
- Must communicate effectively and be able to keep accurate records and work logs
- Required to maintain landscaping, grounds, parking lot, and shovel and lay ice melt in winter
- Required to work safely and in compliance with regulations
- Job may require heaving lifting (up to 100lbs) and bending
- May be required to do other work as needed, including housekeeping, laundry and assisting housekeepers with deep clean, upon occasion
- Reports directly to owner
HOURS / DAYS / SCHEDULE:
- Hours will be scheduled according to business needs and are variable - Weekends and holidays are required
- Will be required to be on-call and/or work overtime, especially during peak seasons and for special events
- Part to full-time position
REQUIREMENTS:
- Must possess valid Washington State driver's license and a clean driving record
- Must have reliable transportation/own vehicle
- Maintain neat, well-groomed, appearance
- Must be local due to snowy conditions in the winter
- No criminal history
- Background check and reference check required
- Random drug testing required
PAY:
- Depends on experience $18 - $20 per hour
REQUIRED EDUCATION:
- Must be able to read, write, and follow precise instructions
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:
- Maintenance: 2 years preferred
