Job Summary
As the Operational Shift Manager, you lead the daily front‑of‑house and guest‑service operations during the first shift, ensuring a seamless, efficient, and guest‑focused environment. You serve as the primary point of contact for guests and staff, overseeing front desk functions, coordinating cross‑departmental workflows, and maintaining operational standards that support an exceptional guest experience. This role blends hands‑on service with supervisory responsibilities, making you a key driver of service quality, team performance, and operational readiness.
- This role requires a minimum of 6 eight‑hour shifts per week.
- A weekly commitment of at least six 8‑hour shifts is required for this position.

Core ResponsibilitiesGuest Experience & Front Desk Leadership
- Guest arrival management — Lead the greeting and welcoming of guests, ensuring a warm, professional first impression.
- Front desk operations — Oversee and perform check‑in and check‑out procedures with accuracy and efficiency.
- Guest issue resolution — Address guest inquiries, requests, and complaints with a focus on timely, satisfactory resolution.
- Service promotion — Ensure staff promote hotel amenities and services to enhance guest engagement.
- Guest relations initiatives — Lead efforts that foster a welcoming, positive atmosphere throughout the property.
Operational Oversight & Coordination
- Departmental coordination — Direct communication between housekeeping, maintenance, and other departments to ensure timely service delivery.
- Record accuracy — Maintain accurate reservation data, guest profiles, billing details, and shift documentation.
- Night audit support — Assist with or oversee night audit procedures to ensure financial accuracy and compliance.
- Phone communication standards — Model and uphold proper phone etiquette for consistent, professional communication.
Shift Leadership & Staff Support
- Shift supervision — Provide direction to front desk and support staff, ensuring tasks are completed efficiently.
- Training support — Assist in training new team members on systems, service expectations, and procedures.
- Workflow management — Monitor shift workload, adjust task assignments, and maintain productivity.
Housekeeping, Laundry & Facility Readiness
- Breakfast area closing — Oversee closing of the breakfast area, restocking food, cleaning dishes, and ensuring cleanliness of the breakfast space and lobby.
- Laundry operations — Manage laundry workflow, ensuring washing, drying, folding, and storage are completed throughout the shift.
- Facility cleanliness — Ensure sweeping, mopping, and general cleanliness of lobby and public areas meet brand standards.
Communication & Multilingual Support
- Multilingual guest assistance — Use bilingual or multilingual skills to support diverse guests.
- Team communication — Maintain clear communication with team members and leadership regarding shift updates and operational needs.
