Duties

• Perform comprehensive inspections and diagnostics on semi-trucks, tractor-trailers, and heavy equipment using schematics and automotive electrical system repair techniques
• Conduct repairs on transmissions, brakes, suspensions, shocks & struts, hydraulics, air brake systems, and other mechanical systems to ensure safety and compliance
• Utilize hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and fabrication skills to assemble, repair, or modify vehicle components and industrial equipment
• Maintain detailed records of maintenance activities, repairs performed, and parts used for each vehicle or piece of equipment
• Operate heavy machinery such as excavators, cranes, forklifts, and other farm or industrial machinery for repairs or testing purposes
• Perform tire service including mounting, balancing, and replacing tires on trucks and heavy equipment
• Ensure all work adheres to safety standards and manufacturer specifications while providing excellent customer service to truck drivers and fleet operators

Requirements

• Proven experience as a heavy truck mechanic or in a similar automotive repair role with dealership experience preferred
• Strong mechanical knowledge of diesel engines, transmissions, vehicle systems, HVAC systems, suspension components, and electrical systems
• Ability to read schematics accurately and troubleshoot complex mechanical or electrical issues effectively
• Skilled in the use of hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, soldering techniques, and heavy lifting safely
• Experience working with heavy equipment operation such as excavators or cranes is a plus
• Knowledge of farm machinery and industrial equipment maintenance is desirable
• Certification in diesel mechanics or automotive diagnostics is preferred but not mandatory; relevant training will be considered an asset
• Excellent problem-solving skills combined with a customer-focused attitude to deliver timely solutions
