About the Role
Long after a visit ends, great care stays with a client and their family. Best Life Harbor companions bring warmth, connection, and a safe, comfortable home to older adults and people with disabilities, helping them stay independent and live their best lives at home.
This is a non-medical, non-hands-on role. You’ll provide companionship and help around the house, with no personal care such as bathing or toileting. You’ll report to our Client Service Coordinator and Director.

What You’ll Do
Companionship
- Provide friendly companionship and emotional support
- Engage clients in conversation and recreational activities
- Assist with reading, games, hobbies, and social interaction
- Accompany clients on walks or community activities, as assigned
- Provide supervision to promote safety
Homemaking
- Light housekeeping: dusting, sweeping, mopping, and laundry
- Prepare meals according to dietary guidelines
- Grocery shopping and errands, as assigned
- Organize living areas to keep them clean and safe
Every shift
- Follow the client’s care plan and agency policies
- Observe and report changes in the client’s condition or behavior
- Document the services you provide
- Report incidents or concerns to the Client Service Coordinator immediately
- Maintain client confidentiality at all times
What We’re Looking For
- Reliable, responsible, and compassionate
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Able to follow instructions and care plans
- Able to maintain confidentiality
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Previous caregiving or homemaking experience preferred, but not required
Required Clearances (all employees)
- Criminal background check, with written consent and a sworn statement. It includes a registry check.
- Communicable disease screening, including TB, completed within six months before hire, with a healthcare provider’s written certification
- Hepatitis B vaccine: documented acceptance or declination
- Pre-employment drug test
- Professional references
- Valid government-issued photo ID
- Completion of our agency orientation
