Staff Accountant

This role will report to the General Ledger Accounting Manager and will contribute to the daily accounting operations for Best Friends Pet Care. This position is integral to maintaining the accuracy and integrity of our financial records, ensuring compliance with accounting standards, and contributing to our organization's financial success. The Staff Accountant is motivated by a strong understanding of accounting principles, is detail-oriented and is able to work independently and collaboratively.

Essential Job Functions:

The incumbent must be able to perform all of the following duties and responsibilities with or without a reasonable accommodation:

• Prepare, review, and maintain accurate financial information.
• Reconcile general ledger accounts, ensuring timely and accurate resolution of discrepancies.
• Assist in month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes, including preparing journal entries and account analysis.
• Ensure compliance with GAAP and company accounting policies.
• Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable functions,
• Prepare and analyze budgets, forecasts, and variance reports to support management decision-making.
• Assist in internal and external audits, providing documentation and resolving inquiries.
• Conduct tax-related tasks, including preparation and filing of tax returns, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
• Identify opportunities for process improvements and contribute to their implementation.
• Stay updated on accounting standards, tax laws, and industry trends to ensure compliance and best practices.

• In-depth knowledge and understanding of accounting principles.
• Ability to adhere to highest standards of confidentiality and discretion in all proprietary business, financial and employee matters.
• Proactive, organized and driven self-starter with ability to pull reports to synthesize data and build the strategy for the enterprise to follow.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or relevant field.
• 1 years of Accounting and/or Finance experience, in the services/hospitality field preferred.
• Strong knowledge of accounting regulations, laws and best practices.
• Strong communication skills to effectively convey complex tax information.
• Attention to detail and high level of accuracy in completing assignments.
• Advanced computer skills including MS Office Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint.

Salary : $55,000 - $65,000
