Best Friends Animal Hospital has been a staple in Mesa, Arizona for almost 30 years! We are a fast paced and growing 2 1/2 doctor hospital, who provide exceptional medicine to our extremely loyal client base. We offer preventative care for all life stages, general/routine surgical procedures, dentistry with surgical extractions, digital radiography, full in-house and 3rd party laboratory services, ultrasound, cold laser, and fully stocked pharmacy.
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Veterinary Technician to join our veterinary team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in animal care, veterinary procedures, and client communication. This role involves supporting veterinarians in providing high-quality medical care for a variety of animals, including dogs and cats. The Veterinary Technician will play a vital role in ensuring the well-being of our patients through technical expertise and compassionate pet handling.
Duties
- Assist veterinarians with examinations, treatments, and surgical procedures using aseptic techniques
- Perform animal restraint and handling to ensure safety during examinations and procedures
- Conduct laboratory tests, prepare samples, and interpret results to aid in diagnosis
- Administer medications, vaccines, and treatments as prescribed by veterinarians
- Assist with animal catheterization, X-rays, and other diagnostic procedures
- Monitor anesthesia and recovery of animals during surgeries or procedures
- Maintain detailed medical records and document all treatments accurately
- Provide pet grooming, pet care advice, and basic animal husbandry support
- Handle animal behavior training such as dog training and proper handling techniques
- Maintain cleanliness of the clinic environment, including kennel areas and treatment rooms
- Support pet owners with education on animal health, nutrition, and wellness
Experience
- Prior experience strongly preferred
- Knowledge of veterinary terminology, animal physiology, anatomy, and pet care best practices
- Experience with dental terminology and procedures is a plus
- Background in veterinary critical care or laboratory experience enhances candidacy
- Equine experience or familiarity with large animals is advantageous
- Veterinary technician experience involving animal catheterization, restraint, X-ray procedures, or aseptic technique is highly desirable
- Dog handling skills and pet grooming knowledge are beneficial for client interaction roles
- Previous experience working with dogs and cats
