About The Role
The Associate Process Engineer supports product scale-up, technology transfer, and commercialization activities, and supports manufacturing operations by identifying and implementing process improvements that enhance product quality, improve safety, reduce operating costs, and increase production capacity. This role works under the direction of senior technical staff and cross-functional leaders to execute studies, analyze process data, maintain accurate documentation, and help standardize best practices. The Associate Process Engineer provides day-to-day technical support to Operations, R&D, Quality, and Engineering, and contributes to continuous improvement efforts through practical problem solving and disciplined execution.

Base Salary Range: $80,000 to $90,000 per year, based on candidate professional experience level. Employees are eligible to participate in Medical, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance, 401(k), Holidays, Vacation, Tuition Reimbursement Program.
The final salary offered for this position may take into account a number of factors including, but not limited to, location, skills, education, and experience.

- Supports process monitoring activities and helps maintain control plans, trending, and key performance metrics.
- Creates, updates, and follows SOPs, work instructions (JIs), and standard forms; supports document change control as required.
- Trains and supports operators, leads, and supervisors on process changes, equipment set-up basics, and updated SOPs/JIs, with guidance from senior staff.
- Participates in production troubleshooting; documents findings, escalates issues appropriately, and supports implementation of viable corrective actions.
- Supports continuous product and process improvement activities, including waste reduction, yield improvement, and cycle time reduction.
- Identifies improvement opportunities and supports evaluation of new materials, tools, or methods that may deliver measurable cost savings.
- Assists in CAPA, root-cause investigations, and DOE activities; helps compile data, summarize results, and track action items.
- Reviews formulations, MBRs, batch records, protocols, and change controls to confirm process capability and to support successful execution in manufacturing.
- Supports execution of process qualifications (e.g., PQ) by preparing drafts of protocols/reports, coordinating readiness, and completing assigned testing and documentation.
- Works with R&D, Engineering, and Operations on equipment and process selection by gathering requirements, supporting trials, and documenting outcomes.
- Participates in qualification activities (IQ/OQ) and supports validation documentation under established procedures and guidance.
- Maintains accurate, timely records of projects, studies, and assignments; organizes files to support audits and knowledge transfer.
- Complies with all Company policies and procedures, including GMP, documentation practices, and safety rules and regulations.
- Maintains a safe work environment and follows safe work practices; reports hazards, near misses, and incidents promptly.
- Performs other job duties related to the role, as assigned by management.
Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:

- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with attention to detail and ability to document work clearly.
- Foundational root-cause analysis and problem-solving skills (e.g., 5-Why, fishbone), with willingness to learn and apply structured methods.
- Proficient in basic data analysis and organizing process information; able to apply engineering fundamentals to solve routine problems with guidance.
- Good planning and organizational skills; able to prioritize tasks and manage multiple assignments in a fast-paced environment.
- Working knowledge of GMP, SOPs, and basic OSHA/safety practices applicable to a manufacturing environment.
- Collaborative skills (teamwork, active listening, and ability to support training and coaching under direction).
- Preferred: Exposure to nutritional ingredients and product formulations (through coursework or industry experience).
- Ability to read and interpret scientific/technical information and summarize findings in clear reports or presentations.
- Basic understanding of manufacturing and quality requirements and how formulation or process changes can impact supply chain and regulatory compliance.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint); able to use spreadsheets for basic data analysis and reporting.
- Ability to work effectively both independently (with direction) and as part of a cross-functional team.
- Ability to maintain a positive, professional, cooperative demeanor, conduct, and working relationship with peers, management, employees, and other individuals that interact with this position.

The appropriate knowledge, skills and abilities required for this position are achievable through the following combination of education, work experience and training:
- Bachelor's degree in chemical/mechanical engineering or related field from an accredited college/university; plus
- One to Two (1-2) years of work experience in a manufacturing or industrial setting (internship/co-op experience may be considered); or
- Any combination of experience, education, and training that provides the level of knowledge, skills, and experience needed to successfully perform the job.
- Exposure to project coordination/project management concepts is a plus.
