Position Summary:
This Service Writer is responsible for assisting the Service Manager in maintaining accurate and on-time reports and records relative to the Service Department’s operation. This position requires a very careful adherence to well-defined work where repeatable results are needed. The work is highly precise in nature and requires a very strong attention to detail. The work performed by the Service Writer is inherently supportive, involving interactions with customers in a professional and caring manner, with a primary emphasis on completing tasks pleasantly and accurately while assisting others.
Position Duties and Responsibilities:
- Opens work orders as directed by the Service Manager and maintains control until they are closed and invoiced
- Prepare service repair orders for billing purposes
- Maintains service schedules
- Fields internal and external customer inquiries to the Service Department
- Maintains the service library with current information (files bulletins, manuals, multi-media, etc.) under the direct supervision of the Service Manager
- Updates customer profiles using equipment, hours, or other information from the customer work orders
- May process warranty and/or product improvement claims including the computation of charges, submission and follow-up
- Maintains Service Department filing and records
- May support other Best Equipment operations
Required Qualifications & Experience:
- General understanding of mechanical/technical terms is preferred
- Experience with and ability to use standard desktop load applications such as Microsoft Office and internet functions
- High School Diploma or equivalent experience
- Basic knowledge of accounting practices
- Knowledge of office procedures
