Key Details:
- Shift: 5:30 AM – 1:00 PM
- Location: This position will support both Rumford and Bristol facilities.
- FLSA Status: Exempt — This role requires working 40–50 hours per week and staying as long as needed to complete assigned tasks.
Position Summary:
The Quality Engineer is responsible for ensuring all products and services meet customer, regulatory, and internal quality requirements. This role leads efforts to maintain compliance with AS9100 and other applicable standards, manages audits, drives continuous improvement initiatives, and provides leadership in the development and implementation of quality systems across the organization.
- Ensure all products and services conform to customer requirements
- Review product and service conformity (e.g., yield analysis) and identify the cost of poor quality
- Implement and analyze statistical process controls (SPC) to ensure process conformity and identify opportunities to reduce variation through data analysis
- Support management reviews, quality objective (KPI) reporting, and other activities necessary to maintain compliance with AS9100 and related standard
- Maintain quality system documentation, including training records, and perform internal audits to ensure compliance with AS9100 requirements
- Review and approve procedures, documents, and policies that impact product quality
- Manage document control across the organization to ensure consistency and compliance
- Review purchase orders to ensure customer quality expectations are met; prior experience with DoD contracts, MIL specifications, FARs, and DFARs is a plus
- Perform root cause analysis to develop and implement effective corrective actions
- Act as a liaison with customers to address complaints and report root cause analysis results
- Manage and approve First Article Inspection (FAI) processes
- Host customer and/or regulatory audits and perform supplier quality audits as needed
- Interface with suppliers to qualify new products and improve incoming product quality
- Ensure Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPAs) are completed and implemented in a timely manner
- Perform product quality audits and inspections and sign Certificates of Conformance when required
- Support production teams in the troubleshooting process or product issues
- Implement process improvements using Lean Manufacturing principles such as Kaizen, Kanban, and SMED
- Lead failure analysis efforts to determine the root cause of internal or customer-returned parts
- Design, develop, and maintain quality control training programs
- Exemplify and promote the company's BEST values
- Perform all other duties as assigned
Qualifications and Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, quality, or a related field preferred
- Minimum 3 years of experience in an AS9000/NADCAP environment
- Ability to manage process/product technical issues through to a positive conclusion
- Ability to independently complete a full validation protocol product/process to include IQ/OQ/PQ, MSA, PFMEA, Control Plan, PPAP
- Ability to use CAD and accurately interpret CAD drawings
- Ability to manage process/product technical issues through to a positive conclusion
- Strong knowledge of quality tools and methodologies (SPC, FMEA, PPAP, CAPA, MSA)
- Proficiency in CAD and statistical analysis software
- Excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- Experience with Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement practices
- Prior experience with DoD contracts and familiarity with MIL specs, FARs, and DFARs is a plus
