We are seeking a Quality Assurance Lab Technician to support our growing operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform inspection and measurement activities using basic metrology tools to verify conformity of coated products to specified requirements.
- Utilize measuring and monitoring equipment—including dry film thickness (DFT) gauges, vernier calipers, micrometers, steel rules, and feeler gauges—to assess coating thickness, dimensional characteristics, and overall product suitability before, during, and after coating processes.
- Interpret customer specifications, job travelers, and technical drawings to ensure compliance with defined acceptance criteria.
- Conduct incoming, in-process, and final inspections to ensure adherence to customer specifications, drawings, and applicable industry standards.
- Ensure all measuring and monitoring equipment is properly handled, maintained, and within calibration or verification status in accordance with quality procedures.
- Accurately document inspection results, identify nonconforming products, and initiate nonconformance reports and corrective actions in alignment with the Quality Management System (QMS).
- Assist with root cause analysis and implementation of corrective and preventive actions.
- Maintain organized inspection records, certifications of conformance, and quality documentation in compliance with company, customer, and regulatory requirements.
- Support internal, customer, and third-party audits, including ISO 9001, AS9100, and NADCAP.
- Communicate quality issues clearly and professionally to production, engineering, and management.
- Collaborate with production teams to identify and implement process improvements and quality enhancements.
- Operate in compliance with AS9100, ISO 9001, applicable coating standards, safety procedures, environmental controls, and OSHA regulations.
Laboratory Responsibilities
- Assist with laboratory testing, analysis, and inspections as needed.
- Prepare samples, chemicals, and testing materials for analysis.
- Operate, maintain, and calibrate laboratory equipment and instruments.
- Troubleshoot testing processes and equipment issues.
- Maintain detailed, accurate, and organized laboratory documentation and records.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree or technical certification in quality, manufacturing, materials science, or related field preferred.
- 1–3 years of experience in a quality, inspection, or laboratory role within a manufacturing or metal finishing environment preferred.
- Experience using basic metrology tools such as calipers, micrometers, and thickness gauges.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and customer specifications.
- Working knowledge of quality systems and standards such as ISO 9001 and/or AS9100 preferred.
- Familiarity with coating inspection methods and standards is a plus.
- Strong attention to detail with excellent documentation and organizational skills.
- Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office, quality systems, or ERP software).
- Ability to identify problems, support root cause analysis, and contribute to corrective actions.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively across departments.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
