Overview
The Direct Care Staff is responsible for providing support, supervision, and care to adult residents with mental, physical, or developmental disabilities. This role ensures resident safety, dignity, and well‑being while assisting with daily living activities and community participation.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Provide direct supervision and support up to four adult residents.
- Assist with activities of daily living (ADLs) including bathing, grooming, hygiene, and toileting.
- Support residents with meal preparation, housekeeping, and personal organization.
- Monitor residents’ health, behavior, and general well‑being; report changes promptly.
- Implement behavior plans and follow emergency procedures.
- Transport or accompany residents to programs, appointments, and community outings.
- Assist residents with medications, complete accurate documentation.
- Maintain a clean, safe environment per facility policies.
Documentation & Compliance
- Complete daily notes, logs, medication records, and incident report as required.
- Maintain confidentiality and follow licensing, regional center, and facility standards.
- Attend all mandatory trainings, including but not limited to First Aid/CPR, TB, HIV/AIDS, DSP, Pro-ACT, medication, and ongoing in‑service sessions.
Qualifications
- At least 18 years old.
- High school diploma or GED.
- Must pass health screening and DOJ/FBI Live Scan background check.
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray, per state regulations.
- Authorized to work in the U.S. (valid ID, Social Security card, passport, etc.)
- Valid driver’s license and insurance (if transporting residents).
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and assist residents safely.
- Previous experience with individuals with disabilities preferred.
Work Environment & Schedule
- The facility operates 24/7. Work may include morning, evening, overnight, weekend, and holiday shifts depending on staffing needs.
