What you'll do:
- Applying scientific methods to solve real-world business problems using data
- Utilizing cutting edge statistical and machine learning methods to dig deep into complex data to deliver data-driven solutions across all areas of the business but primarily Enterprise Finance
- Employing broad and deep knowledge of statistics, analytics, and machine learning to contribute to and enhance Best Buy’s core data science capabilities
- Mining large structured and unstructured data appropriately to glean actionable insights and to make recommendations on how the data can be used to help solve complex business problems
- Communicating with business partners to effectively translate models and solutions to different audiences
- Collaborating with other stakeholder teams to implement and deploy scalable solutions
- Bachelor's degree in a highly quantitative field (e.g. Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, Engineering, Math, Operations Research, etc) or equivalent experience.
- 2 or more years of experience with data science/analytics programming languages (e.g. Python, R)
- 2 or more years of experience implementing impactful ML models.
- 2 or more years writing SQL queries and working with relational databases.
- Experience presenting complex technical information to a wide variety of audiences
- 2 or more years of experience in data science, data analysis, data mining or other similar business functions. Advanced degrees in relevant fields may be counted towards experience requirements.
- Master's degree in a highly quantitative field (e.g. Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, Engineering, Math, Operations Research, etc)
- Experience with Financial Forecasting
- Experience working with FP&A teams (either as clients or embedded in an FP&A team)
- Experience with bringing ML models into production pipelines
- Experience building ML-based Prescriptive models
- Familiar with Cloud computing platforms (e.g. GCP, AWS)
- Familiar with Git
