What are the responsibilities and job description for the Maintenance Supervisor position at Best Block LLC?
Best Block LLC, part of the QUIKRETE® Companies, LLC, a manufacturer for segmental concrete products for the commercial, residential, contractor, industrial, and retail customer, has an immediate opening for a Maintenance Supervisor located at our Bridgeton, MO facility.
The Maintenance Supervisor has responsibility to ensure efficient productivity, quality of workmanship, engagement, and safety of the maintenance operations personnel. They will also set departmental goals and provide direction, guidance, and development to their staff. Reports to the Maintenance Manager
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Administers and/or implements a sound preventive maintenance program with appropriate documentation and record keeping.
- Establishes and maintains an accident free work environment. Participates in monthly plant safety meetings and conducts monthly safety inspections as directed. Ensures that plant machinery and equipment complies with established company, OSHA, and EPA policies and requirements.
- Maintains the plant and equipment at the appropriate level to provide for consistent, efficient, and continual operation.
- Continuously evaluates and controls the cost of repair and maintenance expenditures.
- Assists in the selection and installation of replacement or new equipment
- Ensures that housekeeping in the maintenance shop, other maintenance work areas, and areas worked in comply with company policy.
- Troubleshoots, repairs or replaces defective equipment and parts. Reassembles equipment including machinery, conveyors, packing lines, product handling equipment, etc.
- Performs routine preventive maintenance to ensure that machines continue to run smoothly, systems operate efficiently, or the physical condition does not deteriorate.
- Inspects drives, motors, belts, check fluid levels, replace filters, or performs other maintenance actions.
- Assembles, installs or repairs wiring, electrical and electronic components. Works on and repairs all types of electrical components such as contacts, starters, relays, overloads, input/output boards, etc.
- Diagnoses mechanical problems and determines how to correct them, checking drawings, repair manuals, and parts catalogs.
- Constructs and fabricates parts to specifications using limited resources.
- Inspects, operates, and tests machinery and equipment to diagnose machine malfunctions.
- Dismantles machinery or devices to access and remove defective parts.
- Assists with Troubleshooting and repairs of plant machinery.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- Managing preventive maintenance and parts demand of the whole Facility.
- Electrical diagnostics and knowledge of how to read electrical drawings.
- Knowledge of industrial electrical control systems to include PLCs, 120/240/480 3ph systems, motors and controllers.
- Experience with safety programs and Lockout/Tagout procedures.
- Mechanical and physical dynamics as they relate to machine functions.
- Hydraulic diagnostics and knowledge of how they function.
- Ability to be an independent thinker, finding solutions to problems and then implementing those solutions.
- Must be team oriented and have good people skills.
- Experience in a Maintenance Technician/ Electrician position.
- Highly motivated person that is able to handle a high volume of work with accuracy in a fast changing environment.
- Must be able to work flexible hours as dictated by the job requirements.
- Exhibits sound judgment and swift decision-making skills.
- Ability to learn new systems and functions of machinery
- Must have good work ethic and be dependable.
*Computer/Software Skills:
- Previous experience/proficiency with navigating maintenance management systems (Maintenance Connection for example)
- Ability to proficiently utilize Microsoft Office suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.)
*Knowledge & Abilities:
- Provide mentoring and inspiration for succession planning through Division.
- Provide technically adept guidance that displays an understanding of industrial mechanics, electrical, electronics, pneumatics, hydraulics, PLCs, AC/DC theory, motors, etc. to maintenance team.
- Manage multiple projects concurrently.
