Job Overview:
As a democratic group comprised of 13 full time Emergency Physicians and 8 full time Advanced Practice Clinicians we have staffed Medical West's ERs for more than 40 years. We are seeking to hire an experienced full-time Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant to join our team.
We currently staff 2 locations: Medical West's main campus ER and Medical West's freestanding ER. Our providers enjoy working at both as they offer different practice environments. Medical West has opened a beautiful new hospital in August 2024 and we are thrilled to be a part of the new system.

Medical West Freestanding ER: 5300 Medford Drive, Hoover, AL, 35244
Job Responsibilities:
- Perform physical examinations of patients to evaluate health and diagnose illnesses
- Order and perform diagnostic tests, such as x-rays and laboratory tests
- Determine, plan, and initiate appropriate treatment, and adjust treatment if necessary
- Prescribe and dispense medications
- Document medical information of patients and maintain electronic medical records
- Educate, instruct, and counsel patients and families on presenting health problems, treatment plans, and home care, and encourage and promote preventative health care and positive health behaviors
- Request consultation or referral with other health care providers, such as physicians and clinics
Job Requirements and Qualifications:
- Graduate degree
- Up to date certification
- Must have a current license to practice as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant in Alabama
- Clinical experience preferably in emergency medicine
- Must be compassionate and personable
- Ability to communicate effectively with patients and medical staff
- We are specifically looking for providers interested in a full time position
- Full time providers must be willing to work late shifts and some weekends and holidays
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $80,000.00 - $200,000.00 per year
