Duties
- Read and interpret mechanical blueprints, technical drawings, and GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) specifications to ensure accurate machine setup.
- Program CNC machines using G-code, M-code, Fanuc controls, or CAD/CAM software such as SolidWorks and CAM programming tools.
- Set up CNC lathes and milling machines by installing tooling, fixtures, and calibration devices like bore gauges, micrometers, calipers, and precision measuring instruments.
- Operate manual machining tools when necessary to prepare parts for CNC machining or perform finishing tasks.
- Conduct precision measurements during machining processes using measurement tools to verify dimensions and ensure adherence to quality standards.
- Perform machine calibration, tool changes, and adjustments to optimize machining performance.
- Inspect finished parts using coordinate measuring machines (CMM), micrometers, calipers, and other quality control equipment to guarantee compliance with specifications.
- Troubleshoot machining issues related to tooling, programming errors, or mechanical problems; make necessary adjustments for continuous improvement.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area while adhering to safety protocols related to electrical discharge machining (EDM), grinding tools, power tools, and other equipment.
Qualifications
- Proven experience with CNC setup and operation on CNC lathe and milling machines.
- Strong knowledge of CNC programming languages including G-code and M-code; familiarity with Fanuc controls is preferred.
- Proficiency in reading mechanical blueprints and interpreting GD&T specifications for precise manufacturing.
- Hands-on experience with CAD software such as SolidWorks or CAD programs for part design review.
- Skilled in using measurement tools like micrometers, calipers, bore gauges, coordinate measuring machines (CMM), and other precision instruments for quality inspection.
- Mechanical aptitude with understanding of machining tools, tooling selection, fixture setup, and manual machining techniques.
- Basic math skills for calculations related to dimensions, tolerances, feeds, speeds, and measurements.
- Knowledge of electrical discharge machining (EDM) processes is a plus.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining high standards of safety and quality.
